The Personal Data Protection Office conference “Students, personal data and technology. How to build a safe and digitally resilient school ?”

On 27–28 October 2026, the Personal Data Protection Office will hold a training conference entitled “Students, Personal Data and Technology. How to build a safe and digitally resilient school ?”. The event will take place in a hybrid format and will launch the 17th edition of the nationwide educational programme “Your Data – Your Concern”, carried out under the honorary patronage of the Minister of Education and the Ombudsman for Children.

Protecting students’ data and privacy in the digital world

The “Your Data – Your Concern” programme is one of the Personal Data Protection Office’s key educational initiatives. It supports schools in fostering an informed and responsible approach to personal data protection and privacy. Its aim is to develop the knowledge and skills students need to navigate the digital environment safely, while strengthening the role of teachers and educational institutions in building a culture of respect for privacy.

This year’s conference will focus on the most important challenges associated with protecting children’s personal data in an era of rapidly advancing technology. Key topics will include students’ digital safety, the responsible use of technological tools, and privacy protection in everyday school life and beyond.

Particular emphasis will be placed on the role of schools in developing digital skills, critical thinking, and informed attitudes towards online risks. Another important aspect of the discussions will be supporting children and young people in making responsible decisions about sharing personal information and using new technologies in ways that respect their own rights and those of others.

Schools as environments for building digital resilience

The development of artificial intelligence, the growing presence of technology in students’ everyday lives, and emerging threats in the digital space are creating new challenges for schools, teachers, and parents. How can we effectively protect children’s privacy? How should personal data breaches be addressed? How can students’ digital resilience be strengthened, and how can they be taught to use the internet responsibly and with awareness?

During the two-day training conference, experts from the Personal Data Protection Office, representatives of public institutions and organisations working in digital safety, as well as education practitioners, will seek to answer these and many other questions.

We invite you to take part

Teachers, school principals, representatives of teacher training institutions, and everyone interested in digital education and the protection of children’s and young people’s personal data are invited to attend this free conference.
