Meeting on the Implementation of the “Code of Conduct for the Healthcare Sector”

At the initiative of the Personal Data Protection Office, a meeting was held on the “Code of Conduct for the Healthcare Sector.” The meeting was attended by representatives of the Personal Data Protection Office, representatives of the code’s authors from the Polish Hospital Federation, and representatives of KPMG Advisory sp. z o.o. sp.k., an accredited entity responsible for monitoring compliance with the code.

During the meeting, participants discussed measures designed to encourage controllers and processors to become members of the “Code of Conduct for the Healthcare Sector.”

Formal adherence to the code of conduct not only allows a controller or processor to follow practical guidelines on applying personal data protection regulations in accordance with the GDPR, but also guarantees professional monitoring of compliance with the code’s provisions by an entity accredited by the President of the Personal Data Protection Office and in the case of public sector members of the code — through the monitoring mechanism specified in the code and approved by the supervisory authority.

More information on codes of conduct is available on the Office website—we particularly encourage you to read Guidelines 1/2019 issued by the European Data Protection Board regarding codes of conduct and monitoring bodies in accordance with Regulation 2016/679.
