The President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) sent a letter to schools

On the occasion of the 20th Personal Data Protection Day, which will be celebrated on 28 January, the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), Mirosław Wróblewski, sent a letter to school principals, students, and teachers participating in the 16th edition of the nationwide educational programme ‘Your Data – Your Concern.’

The President of the Office recalled that Personal Data Protection Day was established by the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on 28 January, the same day that marks the anniversary of the adoption of Convention 108 on the protection of individuals with regard to automatic processing of personal data.

The President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) thanked the participants of the programme ‘Your Data – Your Concern’ for their commitment, creativity, and consistent efforts. He stressed that it is precisely reliable and high-quality education that prepares young people to function consciously in the digital environment. He also noted that in an era of rapid technological development, disseminating knowledge among children and young people about ways to protect personal data is of particular importance, but also requires attractive forms of communication.

In the concluding part of the letter, he expressed the hope that the programme ‘Your Data – Your Concern’ would continue to build a strong culture of respect for personal data.
