"Your Data – Your Concern" at the Congress of Children and Youth in Warsaw

The Personal Data Protection Office was present at the Congress of Children and Youth organized by the Ombudsman for Children. The event brought together hundreds of young participants from all over Polish interested in topics important to their generation.

The meeting, organised with the needs, problems and aspirations of children and young people in mind, was also attended by representatives of various initiatives related to legal education, security and protection of personal data, and mental well-being. The participants of the Congress also had the opportunity to visit the stand of the Personal Data Protection Office promoting the nationwide educational program "Your Data – Your Concern". In the area of the Office, quizzes, crosswords and other tasks related to the protection of personal data have been prepared. Adults could use the prepared brochures on protecting the image of children and find out why it is worth taking care of the digital safety of the youngest. In an accessible form, knowledge on how to safely use technology and protect one's privacy in the online sphere was presented. These attractions were of interest to both children and young people.

For years, the "Your Data –Your Concern" programme has been supporting schools and educational institutions in building awareness of the protection of personal data and the right to privacy of young people, and helps develop the digital competences of students and teachers. The presence of the program at the Congress of Children and Youth emphasises the importance of education about personal data protection as an integral part of caring for the rights and safety of the youngest in the digital age.

Participation in this nationwide undertaking was an excellent opportunity to reach a wide range of young recipients with an important message and to promote the conscious and responsible use of new technologies.

We would like to thank the Ombudsman for Children, Ms. Monika Horna-Cieślak, for the opportunity to participate in such a unique event addressed to young people, an event tailored to their needs and interests.
