Data protection in times of threat

Konrad Komornicki, the Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office, took part in the 3rd Business Security Congress, organised by the National Security Association in Spała on 25-26 March 2024. During the event dedicated to contemporary threats and challenges to Poland's economic security, Komornicki delivered a lecture entitled 'The rank and importance of personal data protection in times of increased cyber threats and information warfare'. He began his speech by reading out a letter from the President of the Personal Data Protection Office addressed to the participants of the Congress.

“We all realise that in today's rapidly developing technological world, business security is our common concern, and that knowledge and information are as valuable as material goods. Therefore, the Personal Data Protection Office meets the challenges related to the development of new technologies, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity by taking measures to implement effective protection of personal data and the right to privacy," wrote the President of the Personal Data Protection Office, Mirosław Wróblewski.

The presentation of the Deputy President of the Personal Data Protection Office focused on new legal regulations (among others DSA, DMA, DGA, AI Act and NIS2), which are primarily aimed at ensuring online security and increasing the transparency of the activities of online platforms, with particular emphasis on the protection of personal data.

The aim of the Congress was to discuss the most important threats in the area of ensuring physical, organisational, technological, personal and legal security, in terms of supporting entrepreneurs in effectively securing their activities. The 3rd Business Security Congress was attended by, among others, representatives of the Government, Parliament, public institutions, academia and business.
