Students with prizes in an essay competition
Scanning the iris of the eye as a means of identifying students during exams ‒ this is the topic which was faced by law and administration students in this year's 11th edition of the essay competition. Awards were presented to the winners of the competition on July 8, 2021.
‒ At the Personal Data Protection Office, we know how important educational activities and raising public awareness are. Therefore, for years, the Office has initiated or patronized many projects aimed at disseminating knowledge about the protection of personal data ‒ said Robert Tyszewicz, Director of the Personal Data Protection Office, who handed out the awards.
‒ We received many interesting works and thanks to that we could choose the best ones. We appreciated the opinions of the Personal Data Protection Office, information and decisions cited in the essays. Judgments of the Supreme Administrative Court or the Voivodship Administrative Court in Warsaw, literature and international judicial decisions, and of course the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) were the basis for the competition participants to formulate conclusions presented in the works ‒ said Urszula Góral, Director of the International Cooperation and Education Department at UODO.
Let us recall that the winners of the 11th edition of the competition organized by the Personal Data Protection Office and specialists from the Kobylańska & Lewoszewski Mednis general partnership law firm were:
- 1st place Ms Maria Kaczmarek from the University of Wrocław,
- 2nd place Mr. Sebastian Jakubiec from the Andrzej Frycz-Modrzewski Krakow University,
- Third place Ms Wiktoria Wziętek from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.
